The Assyrian Empire-The Assyrian People
From what I understand, the capital of Assyria was Ashur, founded around 1900 B.C. What’s cool about what I learned about the Assyrian Empire is that it was called Subartu by the Sumerians.
Some individuals believe that the passages in the Book of Genesis indicate that the city Ashur was founded by a man whose name was Ashur. Ashur was supposedly the son of Shem, son of Noah.
The Assyrian Empire was known to have city-states, and each city-state may have worshipped a different deity or god. This seemed to be normal throughout ancient Mesopotamia.
Their military, from what I understand, was ruthless and took no mercy on their enemies. Many scholars have described them to have killed every person that was in their way.
There were three different periods of the Assyrian Empire, and they were known as The Old Kingdom, The Middle Empire, and the Late Empire, also known as the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Even though those periods no longer exist, there are still people living in the regions of Iran and Iraq who are Assyrian as of today.
The Assyrian Empire was very popular for trading throughout ancient Mesopotamia and even in Africa. This helped with migration and settling of new locations with the help of new trades.
