The History Of Writing Systems

Welcome to the section of my website where I will present the many different writing systems throughout the history of humanity. Respectfully, the Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia are considered the founders of the first writing system, the cuneiform.

Even though the Sumerians are considered the founders of the first writing system, there are examples of writing systems worldwide that may or may not date before the Sumerian civilization and their writing system.

But because of what one may consider what a writing system is, I created this section to help me along my journey of learning about ancient civilizations. It helps tremendously when learning about ancient myths, gods, and goddesses.

So, here are the many different writing systems throughout history.

I will continue to update this list.
