Puzzle Pieces of History: Section 1

Divinity

Most people are familiar with Jesus Christ, but while the Holy Bible doesn’t specify the exact date of his birth, December 25th is widely celebrated as his birthday, especially in the United States. However, there is no consensus regarding the specific year of his birth based on my experience and understanding.

There exist numerous theories and interpretations regarding the identity of Jesus Christ. One could spend considerable time discussing his character’s diverse depictions and representations. Nevertheless, a significant number of people firmly believe that he is the son of God. Regardless of the specific version of the Holy Bible they have read or the type of church they attend, their faith in this belief remains unwavering, even when confronted with contrary evidence. This underscores the deep importance of their faith to them.

When I was a kid attending church on Sundays with my family or friends, there were always discussions about how Jesus would come back. Of course, many different versions were being told to me about exactly what would happen, but for the most part, it was to save his people.

But who was he the first time around?

As I got older and started to read about the many different ancient civilizations like the ancient Egyptians, the Sumerians, or even the ancient Mesoamericans, I started learning that “Jesus” was not always the name that was used to identify an individual who was a son of a god.

So what I did was Google, “What names were used before Jesus?” I found out that one of the names before the known usage of the name Jesus was Yeshua, which was, from what I understand, used and mentioned many times in the Hebrew bible.

The name Jesus, from what I’ve read and how I understand it, is that it was derived from the Late Latin name Iesus.

I’ve learned that Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek word Iesous, which is the transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua or Joshua.

Knowing the definition of etymology helps me understand it better. See, the letter J wasn’t invented until around 1524. But what’s interesting is that Jesus was also known as Joshua/Jeshua. So, knowing when the letter J was first used lets me know there is an origin of the name Jesus and how it was used and has changed throughout history.

Similarities

One of the many confusing things I was told when I was a kid was that Jesus is God in human form, in that he was God in the flesh. I was a little thrown off by this because of who the Virgin Mary is and how she was Jesus’s mother.

Through my reading and research on various occasions, I’ve come to the understanding that Jesus and God (with a capital G) are one and the same. This realization has been influenced by my knowledge of the Sumerians, ancient Egyptians, and the ancient Mesoamericans, allowing me to draw parallels between Jesus and figures from these ancient civilizations.

This is important because, for me to know who Jesus is while understanding what incarnation is, I have to learn all the traditional stories that were told about all the individuals who were sons of a god—considering that there is only one true god.

I just want to remind you of the Tower of Babel incident and the many interpretations of it. If you do not know what the Tower of Babel incident is about, it’s meant to explain why the world’s peoples speak different languages.

Exodus 20:5 (KJV): Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Obviously, humanity has a long history, and if there is more to who “God/Jesus” was, then why stop at the Holy Bible when there are other books that can give you the history of who “Jesus” was? Especially considering before there was the King James Version of the Holy Bible (which many people hold as the best bible to learn and read from), it was the Hebrew Bible. And because of Judaism, the world’s oldest monotheistic religion, possibly dating back nearly 4,000 years, I can see how humanity went from polytheism to monotheism.

From what I’ve read and from what I understand, the word Elohim means “gods and or just God in the Hebrew Bible.” So basically, it could represent many gods or have been used to describe the God of Israel.

But this is where it gets interesting to me; I was reading a book series from Godfrey Higgins called Anacalypsis V1 and V2 An Attempt to Draw Aside the Veil of the Saitic Isis or an Inquiry into the Origin of Languages, Nations, and Religions. It talks about how Jesus Christ was first known as Krishna/KRSNA, a major deity in Hinduism. This is interesting to me because Hinduism is actually the oldest religion.

I highly recommend reading those two books; they were long but worth the read.

If you’ve had a chance to read my earlier articles or listen to my podcast, you’ll see a recurring reference to the Sumerians. I often mention them because they are credited as the pioneers of the writing system. However, it’s important to note my awareness that various writing systems exist worldwide, and it’s possible that the ancient Egyptians could also be considered founders, not just the Sumerians.

Either way.

From what I gather from reading from different scholars, Jesus has similarities with both Enlil and Enki from the Anuna (gods), also known as the Anunnaki, which comes from ancient Mesopotamia (depending on the God in the flesh (Jesus) idea or just God). But the ancient Mesopotamians, including the Akkadians, Assyrians, and Babylonians, are where we get the first descriptions of the many gods like Anu/An, Enki, and Enlil. And this, in some ways, gives people the idea that God/gods came from somewhere other than Earth.

Then, from the ancient Egyptian traditional stories, some people believe that Jesus was possibly Horus. From being born from a virgin and having his own “12 disciples” and the other similarities between the two, those similarities were enough to convince some people that Jesus and Horus could be the same.

So, with all that being said, the oldest religion is Hinduism. With the Bible not having the whole story about humanity’s gods, I will continue reading the translations of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the translations from the cuneiform tablets from ancient Mesopotamia, and even the pyramid texts or the Book of the Dead from ancient Egypt. I can’t forget the Popul Vuh, the ancient texts from India, and all the books I can possibly get my hands on; basically, I just need to continue reading.

And Jesus said we have never known the True God. We have never seen his face or heard his voice. So hmmmm… who is everyone worshipping? He even says his kingdom is not from here. He said not to worship him (that is the doctrine of men), and to worship the True God only. Lastly, he says in Matthew 11 that the Kingdomnof Heaven has been taken by force by violent ones. So how can the Christian faiths of today be right? There should be a lot of questions.

  11. This also is an interest of mine, about Jesus and why we believe what we believe and do we know the scriptures, dogma and the beliefs for the past 10 years. This has been informative and keep up the great work!

Religion is a man made concept so try reading there Holy Scriptures with an open mind and you should come up with more questions than answers + read other material supporting and not supporting these books. Only one point of view, echo chamber, teaches you nothing but reinforces and you don’t learn!
